Hi I have resently checkt my credit report I have a defult on my records with a bank that should have not defulted me, they said they were sorry and that they will sort it out. But I have learned that it takes 6years to get this off my credit report, can they get it off as its not my fault and they took the blame and said they would do what ever it takes. I also had a ccj on my account over a year ago for 500 almost 400 of that is already been paid off. Will this efect my credit as I am a student and I am told were ever I go I can't get a loan or credit because I have bad credit. Is this something I can fix

Report it to the credit bureau as a an error. The credit bureau will check with the bank and unless the bank justifies they will remove it.

Defaults and CCJ's are seen in the same light.
Even when satisfied they will both stay on your report for 6 years.

As the bank has already admitted that the default was a mistake you want it COMPLETELY removed and not simply amended.
If they don't comply a claim under the Data Protection Act s14 should do the trick, also go for damages ;)

Data Protection Act 1998 (c. 29) (http://www.opsi.gov.uk/Acts/Acts1998/ukpga_19980029_en_3#pt2-l1g14)

You're stuck with the CCJ I'm afraid, unless it can be shown to be unlawful charges that have been applied to the debt, hence making the judgement invalid.

Psst Scott, OP's a Brit ;)
