68x, I'm pretty sure, you have 8 squared which equals 64x plus 4x which would equal 68x

No, for goodness sake it is not 68x.
Just factor out a 4x.
4x(2x+1)
There. That's all there is to it.

WOW. I got it wrong, this is how I would have done it:
8x^2+4x is:
8+4=12
12x^2 was my answer... I was way off wasn't I?
By the way, galactus, how did you type the equations that way? How did you get the powers to be small and on top?
