I recently bought an older home, picked up a Hunter Digital Thermostat in order to change out the old one. Ok, I'll bite the bullet-----I forgot to label the colors on the thermostat wires prior to removing them, thinking they corresponded to the color coding on the thermostat. Now it is 80 degrees in here and won't shut down?
Does anyone have any helpful suggestions as to how to track down the correct wiring/color coding diagram.
It is a 3 wire, red, white and green set up. It is a gas hydronic heating unit. Have been struggling with this for hours now.
I'd appreciate any and all suggestions.

First check and post the brand and exact model number of the zone valve or boiler control. Many of these controls are of the 3 wire variety and need special thermostats.

MOST important also. Post the brand and Exact model number of your old thermostat. This can give us a clue also into the type of actual control setup you have.

The Flow Valve is a white-Rogers Zone A flow water valve---type F19-0097.
The old thermostat is a White Rogers type 1F35-910.

You have this valve with W/R number it is 3 wire and does need a compatible thermostat.

Ok, that's good news, I can find one of those, but, how do I re-install my old thermostat when I have mixed up the wires? I forgot to label them prior to removing them, and when trying to replace them, ended up with the furnace running continuously. How do I track down the proper wiring sequence?
I really do appreciate you trying to help me, just not sure what to do at this point.

I posted above a wiring diagram for a white rodgers thermostat. Use that diagram along with the valve diagram and compare the wire colors on the valve number to the thermostat number. Take a piece of paper with you to the valve location and write it down. PS do not forget a pencil/pen. LOL

Hi and thanks again! I've tried making heads/tails from the diagram you included, not working for me. I've copied the numbers from the zone valve along with their corresponding wire colors, perhaps that would be helpful?
I'm pretty upset with myself right now, knew better, about 20 years ago, but time has a way of dimming good sense, I'm afraid!

It is an easy one.

Go to the valve and take a magnifying glass with you. The numbers are small and I am old and have a hard time reading them. LOL

Look for the number 6 connection or landing area and write down that color for the number 6 terminal.
Then go to the number 5 and do the same
Then go to number 4 and do the same.

Now you have the numbers with the corrosponding color wires that are attached to them.

Go to the thermostat and attach the color wire that corrosponds to the number on the valve to that same number on the thermostat.

Example

4 to 4
5 to 5
6 to 6

Now that was not to bad now was it.

If all else fails see picture.LOL

And, now that I'm aware of how the wiring set up, I guess I'm feeling brave enough to invest in a different digital model and hook it up, with the wire colors marked prior to removing, of course! LOL
