I have two sisters who have been deaf since birth. I am the middle child yet I was unaffected. They also are having a problem with their eye sight. Its like tunnel vision I think. As the years go by their side vision keeps shrinking. My older sister can't see anything that's not in front of her. I was told there was a name for the eyesight problem but combined with deafness I hear it is another thing. I know its genetic and I was wondering if anyone knows what its called and if I could possiblt pass it on to children if I was to have any

Thank you very much... I want to know more about it because the doctors say there is nothing wrong with me at all perfect vision and all. I want to find out why it affects my sisters and not me

Michelle, this is usually a question of genetics. While you may not suffer, you may possibly be a carrier. Your sisters suffer from the disorder, but may have children who do not.

Your best bet would be to seeks the guidance of a genetic counselor. They can do testing if you want and are able to give sound advice.
