In 1998 I defauted on a property. In feb 1999 the bank issued a judgement but never followed up on it.Then in 2005 , after filing my tax return I received a letter from CRA saying they issued the return funds to CMHC.After that a credit burea CBCL sent me a letter saying I owe this. Finally, a law firm issued what appears to be a garnishment to my place of employment which we did not pay and they have not enforced. It is now 2009 way beyond the SOL.What do you think as I don't want this hang over me.Also I have not filed my taxes in 3 years I fear they are going to turn it over to CMHC.Do I still owe this Thank in advance

Let me see you risk going to prison for not filing taxes on purpose to not

Next if they got a judgement there is no statue of limitation, the judgement is good ( depending on state) for about 10 years and they can normally get another one, so they may garnish your pay for up to about 20 years.

Just have less taken out of your check so you owe tax money or break even so no money to be garnished.

If your place of employment did not honor a could ordered garnishment, they can get into legal trouble and actually be held liable for the amount of money thierself.

So if they did get the judgement, you will owe this for a long ,long time.

@ 2025 is when the judgement with a renewal should be over.
