Hey, I'm a father of a 5 year old , I have sole custody and it have been well over a year now that the mother has been involved in my child's life but now all of a sudden I was served with court papers. She is taking me to court to try and take the child for weekends. The thing is that she was addicted to cocain up to 7mths ago that I can prove and she has a criminal record for coming to my residence and kicking in the door in the past while I was home with my child and another child I was keeping . Now my question is would I ever lose the sole custody and will courts actually let her take the child unsoupervised. Or is there any way I could restrain her from seeing the child at all?

Tough situation. Your best bet is to find a family court lawyer (many will offer free initial consultations) and get advice from them.

Most courts look at the past as indication of the present. Chances of getting unsupervised overnight visits right now are slim. They tend to start slow - an hour supervised to start, perhaps, and build up as their and your child's trust builds.

There may be a way to prevent visitation, but if she is clean, probably not in the long run. Get a good lawyer and see what happens.
