As a Construction worker I got an 1099Misc. For about 10,000. I am married with one child. What can I use as deductions for my taxes? How much will I need to pay with out any deductions?

Thanks

If that is your ONLY income, you will pay NO income taxes, because the combination of your three personal exemptions with the standard deduction is more than $20,000.

You may owe self-employment taxes of about $1,500, but that will paid by the Earned Income Credit you will get for supporting the child.

You can claim your work tools, specialized work clothes (like the hard hat and heavy-duty work shoes) plus the use of your personal vehcile on the jon (but NOT commuting expenses).

If you use a cell phone for work, part of that cost can be deducted as well.
