There used to be this children's show on TV in the '80s in which there was a frog at the beginning who would tap his foot and sing some tune with "bum bum bum"
Then the show would open with this older couple sitting by a big chalkboard. Each episode had a different story. They woud begin to tell the story and draw things with chalk on the board. (These were like really really good drawings with shading and contouring and everything.) Then the story would be read while the pictures took up the whole screen in still frames. The stories would be folk talkes.
The only two epiosodes I remember was when this chicken jumped off a weather vane and walked around a villiage; and an another one when a girl outsmarted a giant who wanted to eat her.
I really hope someone remembers this show because nobody I talk to ever remembers it. If you remember anything about it (especially what its called) please reply!
