Hello,

I have a 98 Camry that won't start and I am trying to figure out what the problem. This is the situation:

1. I am a new driver, and I came outside to start my car after 7 days of not driving it in the cold

2. The car would do NOTHING at all.

3. I thought that it might be the battery so I had a friend give me a jump.

4. After charging the battery, the car did come on, and the engine would crank, but not turn over

5. After having a random mechanic look at it, he says that it may be fuel pump, while other people are saying the fuel line may be frozen.

I do not know much about cars and I do not have a lot of money t get it fixed and I certainly don't want to be cheated by the mechanic so if anyone has some suggestions, or if you agree with one of the suggestions that I have already been given, please let me know

Thanks

. Check all underdash and underhood fuses with a test light or multimeter:

. Test for spark. Perform the standard spark test; i.e. remove a spark plug wire and attach it to a properly gapped spark plug, touch the plug to a convenient ground, and observe the spark, while someone cranks the engine. Look for a good, solid spark. If none, consider replacing the coil. Ensure spark plugs have been changed recently--only use the same plugs that originally came in the car.

. Test for fuel--can you hear the fuel pump run, when the ignition key is turned to ON?
