My parental rights were terminated and I want to know if I can still be placed on child support?

Why and how were they terminated, it is not normal that a parent can have his rights terminated unless there is a step parent adoption.
1. you will still owe all back support from prior child support orders.
2. if there was not an adoption, merely losing rights does not stop the obligation of support payments, so yes uness there was an adoption normally you can still be held liable for support payments

TO Chuck.
Well my rights were terminated by a court because my court appointed attorney didn't explain what I was signing. He said this was a form to allow my sister in law to become the temporary guardian of my two children.
With this being said I signed and went on my way to get on my feet. Now when I'm finally in a position to better provide for me and my children I discover that my sister in law has legally adopted my children and even changed their last names. Now here I am left wondering not that I want to escape from paying child support but they never asked me to pay a dime because I was going through very hard times and homeless.
Now I want to know if I can get my rights back and pursue getting my children back or at least pay child support and get some sort of visitation rights?
Or if it's hopeless and as hard as it might be to write this, just forget them and wait until they are adults and try to find a way to explain the situation to them and hope for the best.
But if it is hopeless I also want to know if I still have to pay child support?

To fatherof3: I would be concerned since sister-in-law hasn't put motion for child support before that she may try to get retro since now you are on your feet. It is always best to be proactive just in case. I feel for you and am so sorry for you and your children for being mislead. Just something to think about...

No, if the child was officially adopted, you will not pay or owe any child support.
Bad news, you most likely will not be able to get the chidren back. You will have to prove it was done without your knowledge by fraud or some other issue, and since you had an attoney at the time, it will be harder
