Hi,

I purchased a new laptop from CompUsa in Sep 2006 and the sales person asked me to go for 2 yr TAP insurance and I accepted that. I paid $139 for 2 yr TAP insurance. The sales person told me that 2 yr service plan starts after the 1 year warranty from the original manufacturer. So I was under the impression that I would get totally 1+ 2 years warranty for the computer. CompUsa did not give me any documents related to the insurance except printed in the receipt that total amount includes 2 year TAP insurance.

My laptop stopped working and when I called CompUsa insurance they told me that my insurance expired and they will not do anything with this now. They now says that TAP insurance is not after the first year of manufacture's warranty and instead it starts right after the sale.

Could some one help me to understand what they say is correct.

Now I understand that I should have tried to get all the documents from the company regarding the insurance while I bought the product.

Thanks

I something's worked at CompUSA as a manufacturer's rep and salespeople did mislead customers as to what period the TAP insurance covered. The problem though is that you have no proof of what you were told. So if the insurance carrier states it ran concurrently, then you are out of luck. I can tell you the TAP was more comprehensive that mfg coverage.

After my initial search on the net it appears to me that I cannot do anything since I did not receive any documents pertaining to the TaP isnurance even though the receipt shows that.

Thanks for helping me to understand.
