Should the federal government continue spending trillions of dollars it does not have to get the U.S. economy above water? How do we distinguish what Congress is undertaking in its stimulus package from the behavior of American banks?

Time for grilled cheese and Ramen government. Tighten your belt and pay your bills just like every other American in debt SHOULD do.

This question is being debated in a couple of places.
Why should we ( the American citizens) continue to allow government, in particular the idiots in congress access to our pocket books any longer? Answer, we should not. They are the ones that created this mess in the first place, and now they expect us to believe that they are the only ones capable of fixing it? I guess we really are that stupid to continue electing these crooks!

From Lou Dobbs on CNN, Jan 26, 2009: "I think as the scoring goes, we can put down $350 billion of the TARP money, the Wall Street bailout for President Bush and Hank Paulson, plus $150 billion in pork to get it all passed. Now comes President Obama, his new treasury secretary. They'll have the second $350 billion of that Wall Street bailout money. It looks like, without too much resistance.
"They can count on another $825 billion at least come Wednesday. At least the first vote in the House, so he's making -- he and Geithner may look -- may make Bush and Paulson look like pikers." CNN.com - Transcripts (http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0901/26/ldt.01.html)
Inquiring minds may want to know: "A rising chorus of GOP leaders are protesting that the blockbuster Democratic stimulus package would provide up to a whopping $5.2 billion for ACORN, the left-leaning nonprofit group under federal investigation for massive voter fraud. Most of the money is secreted away under an item in the now $836 billion package titled “Neighborhood Stabilization Programs.” http://www.newsmax.com/headlines/obama_bailout_bill/2009/01/27/175729.html?s=al&promo_code=78E4-1
