In a dentist's office, what are typical prices for all the equipment that they have? Like the chair, drill, hand tools, X-ray machine, overhead light, and panoramic X-ray machine? Just curious.

Hi Jordan,

As I am in the process of building my own office I can give you an idea of the costs. Now I am setting up a hygiene office not a full dental office but the majority of the costs are the same.

Chairs can run up to $20,000.00 each
Sterilizers $7-10,000
light on chairs - $2,500
hand instruments are about $25.00 each
x-ray units $5,000.00
digital USB sensors $10,000 each
handpieces (drills) $350 and up
Pan machine probably close to $30,000 or more

Are you planning on becoming a dentist??

Thanks! Wow, that's quite a bit of money for the equipment!

I'm 20, and I'm still not sure what I want to do yet. I'm a sophomore in junior college.

Well, if you are thinking dentistry, keep in mind that you will be able to get incredible loans as a dentist and with the amount they bill out every year it will be easy to repay the loan.

Depending on the quality, expenses can range anywhere from three to ten thousand dollars. When you buy anything make a list of what you need & evaluate what is available. Talk to the supplier to get more information & read reviews by those already using the equipment to assess whether you should invest in it. Buy it directory from manufacturers.
