Since Dec 2007 I have had 9 colds all of which have began the same, severe sore throat, mucus at back of throat. Mucus for first couple of days looks an orange colour ending in coughing up green sputum with bad hoarseness. The cold lasts a few days but the syptoms that follow can last weeks. I can then have as little as a few days feeling well up to about a month at most before I catch yet another cold.
I am asthmatic and use a steriod inhaler twice a day but very rarely need to use my reliever inhaler as its uncommon for me to be wheezy and more common for me to be breathless. I use a beconase nasal spray for perenial rhinitis. In between these bouts of illness I have really bad post nasal drip and am constantly clearing my throat. When I clear my throat, I spit up brown speckled sputum.
Have been to the doctors so many times and seem to be getting no where. I have had 4 courses of antibiotics, 2 lots of sudafed, been told to use a seawater nasal spray, have been treated for oral thrush twice. I
I caught another cold a few days ago and have been blowing out huge lumps of stuff from my nose, mainly in morning. I know this sounds totally gross, but the lumps are the size and shape of a cornflake, green and slimy. I am coughing up stinky yellow stuff and when I do I have slight discomfort from left side of chest and I am really hoarse again.
This constant illnress is making me depressed, I have 2 children aged 3 and 4 and have no energy. Feel like I just want to sleeep all the time. Hope someone can help.

First of all where do you live? If in the US what state?

Second, your symptoms sound like a chronic sinus infection. You probably need to see a different doctor as the one you went to is not arriving at the solution for you.

I read that taking Vitamin D will help ward off colds and flu. I started taking this at the beginning of the season back in October and I haven't had the flu or a cold so far this season. I know it's a little late, but this could help you now to throw off this sickness but not cure it.

I live in the Uk. Maybe I should ask to be referred to an ear nose and throat specialist.

Yes, most definitely. The regular doctor is not really addressing your problem. Over here in the US I have a horrible reaction to the chemtrails and some days I wake up with a lot of mucus in my nose and a headache from hell. Last year I got some sort of virus from a coworker that I ended up having for over one year. My head hurt so bad from the sinus pressure I would have felt better had my head fallen off my neck.

Look and read this post that I answered a few minutse ago. More than likely you are extremely sensitive to whatever is floating in the air from America that is landing onto the UK.

This might help you understand your problem a bit better. I know after I read this, I understand my sinus problem better, but I do not suffer as much as you do from this stuff.

I hope you find some relief as I definitely comiserate with you.

Frequent colds are often a symptom of depression, as I was told by a physician some time ago when I had colds all the time.

As far as what you should do, I would say get out of the house every day and go for a walk and get fresh air... air out your house. Meet with your friends every day and have some laughs and share. :)

In order to triumph over colds, you will also have to develop a positive attitude and goals for yourself.

Don't be stuck all the time with your children. Hire a babysitter so you can be free of them a lot during the week.

Best wishes to you, :)
