We have a Maytag LDG9304AAE gas dryer, about 15 years old. The dryer's heating element turns off after a few minutes. The drum and blower operate as expected, and in fact I just replaced the belt which did not fix the problem. Steps I've taken so far:
Checked the vent which appears clear.
Ran the unit with the vent disconnected (venting into laundry room); problem still exists
Looked at blower and internal vent - all seem clear.
To check the dryness sensor, ran unit on timer mode - problem still exists
To check thermostats, I disconnected each in turn and have continuity across the leads when the unit is cold.
BUT
I don't know how to check the high limit, and
There is one with four connectors; There is continuity between some but I don't really know how to test this one.
To check the coils, I read about 130 Ohm across the two leads for one, and across two of the three for the other,
BUT
I don't really know how to check the one with three leads.
Any help on continuing to diagnose this would be much appreciated.
