I moved into my house in September. I noticed that the drain that goes to outside has got a slight slope going towards the furnace. Is this correct, does it matter? Shouldn't the drain be going to the outdoors? Also does it matter how many angles the pipe has until it reaches the outside. Any answers to this would be absolutely great. Thank you

Is this a condensate drain? If there is a pump and it works, nothing else matters much. If it is a gravity drain, maybe it should be changed. Is this a 90+% efficient furnace? Heat pump? More information would be good.

Yes this is a condensation drain, it looks like there is some kind of motor device down beside the furnace with a small hose coming out of it that sometimes has water in it. The furnace is a 90+% efficient furnace. Not sure about a heat pump.

If it is working correctly now, you're fine. That little box is the pump. If you pour some water in one of the inlet holes near the corners of it, you will hear it run, and someone outside will see water come out of the pipe. Of course if this isn't the pump you will have problems. :eek:
