Yeah I'm in my 3rd year of high school and I'm trying to find good college's with a strong music program and I just don't know were to look except for my home town, the university of Idaho. And I probably will go there because I also play the tuba and they have a kick low brass section. :D

Hi, YvBuddavY!

How well have you done on the tuba? Any awards or other notable things happen because of playing it? Are you going to major in music? If so, what kind of music degree are you wanting to get? Do you play any other instruments?

Being a tuba player can be part of your "ticket" into a college or university, because that sort of instrument is much more in demand than a lot of other types of instruments. Music departments seek out people who play well on instruments that aren't so much commonly played, such as the tuba, bassoon, contra-bassoon, oboe, French horn, string bass, etc. There can be certain financial incentives for people who play those kinds of instruments.

I apologize for so many questions, but those are some things that need to be known.

Your question hits home for me because I've been a music educator for many years in a number of ways; graduated from college with a degree in Music Education and one of my main instruments that I play is the tuba!

Thanks!
