I'm 15, female and I have bad acne. I've had spots since I was 10 years old and have had bad acne since I was about 12 years old.

I've been to the doctor and they gave me anti-biotics called 'Oxytetracycline'. I was told they'd make a difference in about 4 months. 9 months down the line and my acne hasn't got any better.

Whenever I go out it always feels like everyone's staring at me, I'm scared to talk to people in case they say something about it- this was probably caused by being a certain group of people who have called me names such as 'pizza face' and 'acne girl' (not the most inventive) and walking around school to hear them shouting 'spot' in my ear.

I just want it to go away. Is there anything I can do?
Is there something wrong with me which is stopping it getting better?

Maybe try to stop drinking pop, sweets, if you do already, some of it might also have to do with puberty, stress, I mean you're a teen, sometimes, that's what might do it.

If I were you I'd go back to the doctor and try another medication. Just cause this one didn't work doesn't mean another one won't. You could also ask your doctor for a recommendation on an acne wash. Recently I've started using a lotion that has acne mediation in it and it makes my skin feel healthier.

Have you tried ProActiv? I know lame, but it works for some people. It didn't work for me, but others have had positive results.

I need to ask a few questions:

1. What do you use on your face include soaps?
2. How do you wash your face?
3. How often?
4. Is your hair oily?
5. At certain times?
6. Dandruff?
7. What is your sugar intake?
8. What is your chocolate intake?

Hi unfound I suffer badly from acne and have done since I was 12 (im almost 25 now) however over the years I've found ways of dealing with it to make it less obvious and look a whole lot better. I've also had the oxytetracycline and it done nothing for me either :-(
I find the more chemicals i.e. lotions and potions I put on my skin the more aggravated it gets. I use cotton wool and witch hazel over my skin in the mornings which is just a cleanser with no chemicals and its very very cheap. You can get that in your local pharmacy. At night I use a cream I got off my doctor which you could ask about its called acnecide. I'm just wondering which country your in and when you turn 16? As there is something else I could suggest but I know they don't give it to under 16's xxxx also try not to stress about it (I know that's easier said than done) but it really does make it worse x
