Hi, tbenefield1!
What kind of business would this be concerning, please? It would be helpful to know that.
I have a number of small businesses that I run out of my home.
Thanks!

What would you be inspecting the homes for, please? There could be a number of things for which a home could be inspected. Depending on the type of inspection being done, the person doing the inspecting might need to be licensed in some way.
Thanks!

Just a general Home Inspector. My husband is getting his license for it next month. I am planning on doing the books and marketing.

Are you speaking of home inspections that occur for home buyers?

I own a trucking company... I am a truck driver also... though there are loans and grants for minority business'... assuming you are putting the business in your name... however, I do know that depending on your state, they are rather difficult, if not impossible to obtain... I think that Clough might possibly answer your question better than I can being as Clough is the business expert...

If your husband is already getting his license to do this, then I will assume that you already know what you need to do to set up this type of business as far as licensing and insurance is concerned. You might not need a lot of funds to start the business. But, that would depend on where you want the business to be located, like, out of your home or if you might want to have some sort of separate building for it.
I can help you with how you might market your business on the Internet without it costing you anything to do that. You will also need to be speaking with Realtors and bank people in order to market and establish your business.
Thanks!

Also please check into liablity and/or errors and ommission type coverage,
Lets say he gives a home a pass and says there is no problem with XX, and then in 4 months turns out he missed something and guess who gets sued.
And even if there is nothing really wrong but a owner decides they want to back out or wants to sue someone just to make some bucks, guess who gets listed in law suit

We are planning to start the business out of our home for right now. But we do need funds for equipment and insurance. We do not need a lot but a little also to help us get through until the business picks up would be nice.
I would also love any tips you could give me on marketing. I have a friend that designs websites and he said he would design our website but I am looking for other ways to get our company out in the public.
Thanks
