Hello,
I had a Trane XR14 XLi split system installed in November 2007. Since November 2008, after the installer had to repair a leak from one of the pipes, the furnace often cycles on, shuts off, comes on, shuts off, etc. numerous times while the house is coming up to the programmed temperature. It's like someone turns off a power switch as it is coming up to temperature, then flicks it on and off and on in quick succession. There are sometimes clicking sounds accompanying this unusual cycling.
At first, this would happen primarily at 70 degrees, the programmed temp, but now it can do it at any time while the heater is on. The constant cycling wakes me up with alarm and I usually get up and manually turn the temp down to 65 or turn it off altogether. I don't like to feel there's a death trap above my head in the closet.
What could be causing this problem?
Thanks.
