For the last few days, I have put the heat on in the morning and it blows lukewarm air. The thermometer registers 60 degrees. I doesn't go any higher. The outside unit has ice all over it. What I did find out is that in order to defrost the ice, put your unit on air conditioning for about 10 minutes and it also helps to take your garden hose and run water on the outside unit.

Once the ice is gone, you can switch back to heat and the unit will work. BUT, this is not normal. The unit is supposed to do this by itself.

Any feedback on what the problem could be?

Yes the outside unit is not going into defrost. The defrost timer board, defrost sensor, reversing valve or the reversing valve coils are defective. Usually one of these items will be defective and found during testing.
