Hello,

I bought my husband a new Dell laptop for Christmas which said it was wireless ready! We already have dsl with a 2 wire router that he runs 2 other home computers off. When we tried to set it up it didn't work so I called Dell's hotline and was speaking to a tech who said we needed a wireless router and 2 ethernet cards. Ran right out and purchased and have tried to hook it up as the instructions say to do (and every other variation of plugging that we could try and still no internat access. Hubby says we should have been able to run off existing network but it still doesn't work... Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks

Well you certainly didn't need any more network cards, but you do need a wireless router.
You switch this for the router you already have and set it up from there.

The new Dell Laptops come with the Dell Wireless Utility which controls the connection (it disables the Windows Wireless Network controls). Also, they have a hardware switch on the side or the front that physically turns off the wireless card. If you are sure the card is turned on and you have access the DELL wireless access utility (the name escapes me) and you cannot find your wireless network, take the laptop to a Taco Bell or something and see if you can find their free WiFi. If you can, then go back and revisit your wireless network setup.
