The set temperature is 68, but the thermostat is reading 58. The furnace appears to be working - it clicks on and heat comes out of the vents, but it only runs for a few minutes and then shuts off. Could this be an issue with the thermostat? Our house is only 6-7 years old, so I'm assuming that's how old the furnace is - we've only been here for 2 years. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Nothing like having your heat stop working on the coldest night of the year!

Have you changed the air filter lately?

Turn the thermostat up more and see if it keeps running.

Does the blower keep running or does the complete furnace shut down ?
