I am not sure what the problem is with my PC, but I was having some problems with a program.

I tried to restore, but I got the message when I went to system tools and click restore. This application has failed to becacuse framedyr.dll was not found. Reinstalling the applicaton may fix the problem.

I tried to reeinstall WXP but with one cd the message said Setup can't continue because the verion of WXP on your PC is newer than the verson on the Cd. To erase the newer version and install the older version restart the PC, boot from cd and follow the instructons.

When I tried to reeinstall WXP but with another cd the message said Setup can't continue because the verion of WXP on your PC is newer than the verson on the Cd. It gave some type of warning that I would lose data something to that effect.

Any suggestions will be appreciated, I just want to get it running smoothly.

I noticed my Virus Protection Program was corrupted. I can use the PC and surf the internet but from what I mention earlier I know something is wrong with it.

Thanks in advance.

I know there are several people on this site who can tell you more than me about this type of problem, but whenever I have encountered a virus as many times as I try to fix my computer the only for sure remedy that actually works is to totally reload the operating system again and wiping out the whole shebang and start again. Don't do this though, until some of the experts come along after me and tell you what to do.

I HAVE downloaded and put back the dll file that was missing into the proper place. Not too hard to do and can be done.

You probably have upgraded one of the service packs on your computer and when your xp disc has the info from when before you used update to get the service pack update
( let's say you installed SP3 but your xp disc may be SP2)

Now here is the link for framedyr.dll - download this and put it in your c:\windows\system32 folder and try system restore again
DLL-files.com - framedyn.dll, free download (http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?framedyn)

Now what you can do is a repair installation which should get you going again with the xp disc you have

Repair Installation
A Repair Install will replace the system files with the files on the XP CD used for the Repair Install. It will leave your applications and settings intact, but Windows updates will need to be reapplied.

Perform a Repair Installation (http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/helpandsupport/learnmore/tips/doug92.mspx)

So try these and post back to see how it is going
