View Full Version : Skin colour under different Lightning Conditions

Hi,

First of all I should say that I do know that different light sources have different spectrum of light (like fluorescent bulbs tend to have more blue/green compared to regular bulbs.. etc) Or natural sunlight is different too... So this makes your skin colour look a bit different or lighter or darker...

But, one thing I am very confused is: Previously I was never having that much of difference when I look at my photos in sun light or indoors or the ones with flash or bright light... there was some difference of course in the shade of my skin colour but it was not very different...

In the last one year, I am using sun block and avoiding sun as much as possible and I got lightened a bit by this way. But now, when I look at my photos outdoors during the day I look far more lighter than the indoor pictures... The difference is too much... and I am wondering if anyone is also experiencing such a thing... (I have light brown skin tone and originally not very dark, unless I go to beach for tanning).

I also took a mirror today and realized the same thing... when I look at my face (or my hands, arms... etc (without the mirror of course)) outdoor under natural sun light, I look very light... but when I get inside my house and again look under my room's light: I am far more darker :(

Or, I realized some indoor lightning also makes me look very lighter... like today I was in one of the restrooms/bathrooms of our office building, that I have not used before.. and I realized the fluorescent lights there makes me look very light too... (similar to what happens under natural sunlight/outdoors).

Now, I am confused... why I started seeing that much difference in my skin lightness/shade/colour under different lights/lightning conditions now?

Since, I look far more lighter outdoors during the day, compared to night or indoors, I feel like I want to spend more time outdoors to enjoy that lighter colour... But, the bad news is: If I spend more time outdoors during the day, this time I will get tan...

Does any body else experience such huge difference depending on the lightning conditions? (I know there should be some difference due to spectral properties of light.. and skin's reflectance.. etc.. But the difference I started to experience is too much... and it makes me wonder)... Or, which is my "real" skin colour/shade? The lighter ones under natural daylight, or the far more darker shade under indoor conditions/lightning? I am confused :(
