There could be, or there could also be something that's lagging the process. Is it just from one folder or is it multiple different files from different folders?

Have you ran a scan, cleaned up unnecessary files, and closed unnecessary processes?

A virus is likely what kind of file are you trying to open, also if you have a lot of stuff on your hdd the more that is stored on the hdd the longer the seektime time is and the demand on the system resources
