Ok I shaved it for the first time couple of weeks ago and now it has grown back a lot thicker but some areas I see hair that is not full grown back and its very hard and somewhat sharp.. lol, and causes me too itch when it scrapes against my balls and stuff. Does anybody know if it grows back or do I have to shave it again to get it all even.

Well I am fully shaved and in return my boyfriend has shaved and I think it's the best feeling ever he says I am able to give better blow jobs now that I am not having to worry about the hair

In regards to the answer above me I think just shave again and get it all even

Hi guys,
This thread is growing and growing. As per my opinion shaving pubic hair is simply a personal issue. There will be a lot of men and women who likes to shave there and keep it clean, there will be a lot who will be trimming the pubic hair on a regular basis and there will be a lot of them who will be trimming it once a while and I am sure there will be millions who is not even trimming it once. It is simply personal.

First of all it's soooo not true about if u don't shave over and over it will grow back darker and thicker that is a total lie.So don't believe all that mumbo jumbo.Secondly shouldn't the trim and clean thing be a mutual thing. If u like her nice and clean then chances r she like's u nice and clean.I personally cannot stand a guy that is not well groomed. It's just gross. So whoever wants to disagree with me and say only girls need to keep up with themselves go on right ahead because that's a bunch of bullsh*t.

I meant women and no landing strip. Men should leave their happy trail most definitely, just trim down south.

okay this might be werid to ask ill ask anywayz

im 15 and i shave my pubic hair. i started about a yr ago. now i dont kno if girls like it when a guy does that or no. i do it for two reasons. 1. it keeps that area clean and it doesnt itch. 2. my looks bigger lol.

now i dont get why some guys get all crazy when they find out a person shaves that area. whasts soo wrong about that? i mean its not that bad...does it make me less of a man? i dont see how that would be but does it?

also do girls like it when its shaved or they want a jungle going on down there? Many girls love it. And these days its far less unusual for a guy to do that. 20 years ago it was pretty rare, today not so rare. Like I always say, its safe so if it feels good to you , do it. THere is NO harm in it and it grows back if you get tired of it.

Well I do and have done for years you will get used to it but I suggest that you clean shave it cause the pain you may be experiencing would that its prickly and stabing you but if you are clean shaven it shouldn't do that at first it may so you will need to shave each other day depending on how fast your hair grows back but after a while it will take longer for it to come back and it won't be as hard so it shouldn't stabe you

You likely gave yourself razor burn by not doing it right. First you have to trim it as short as you can with a trimmer, sizzors or whatever, wash well with hot soapy water, and rinse, then use a good cream or gell you shave it first going with downward strokes then side to side and finally with upward strokes, never using the razor on dry skin. Reapply cream as needed. It won't hut if you do it that way. Trust me, as I've done this for years and so has my wife. I actually had to teach her the right way as initially she had the same complaint as you. Now that she knows how to do it she never wants it to grow back. Contemplating laser removal to keep it that way permanently.

And my personal experience is a large percentage if not most women are now doing this. Starting to see in gyms more and more guys doing it as well.

Do you really shave 4 directions every time? That just seems to spell bad news...

All right, I've been using my Gillette Fusion to shave down there ever since I started to shave my pubic hairs. It's a close shave, but I am wondering - should I invest in a nice 4-blade "female razor" to shave my pubes? My fusion blades are just getting eaten alive, and I think it's because they aren't designed for shaving pubic hair, and I think the "female razor" blades would last longer... does anyone know or could anyone shine some light on this?

That's what works best for me. If I just go down its rough to the touch, If it go only up strokes I tend to get razor burn. But if I go downward, and side to side before going upstrokes if somes out smooth as silk with no razor burn. I do lightly spread more gell between passes I have in my hand. I spread the gell with one hand but work the razon with the other. I never pass over bare skin without gell. Never, ever get razor burn this way. And recently I've started using the 5 blade Gillette Fusion Power which is even better than the Mach 3 in my mind.

I have used both razors (male/female) blade razors. In a blade I found that the Gillette SensorExcel Razor laster longer than the mens razor from Gillette... I still like the Norelco better... just my choice... looking for long lasting blade go with Gillette SensorExcel Razor

Wife actually prefers my Mach three to her triple blade woman's razor. She hasn't used my new Fusion Power yet, she might have a new favorite. So based on my wife's experience women's razors las no longer than mens. And if fact that is one woman that finds a mans razor superior. She does however use a women's cream/gell instead of mine.

I'm a woman and honestly I have no preference whatsoever. My man went up to the shower one night without telling me and came down smooth, from his face, chest and uhm `area` lol. I loved his smooth chest but it itched so much he hasn't done it since. I think I prefare him manly and hairy but its his choice, his body I can only give my preference.

My wife likes me to shave down completely below the neck... I'm average type hairy naturally so I indulge her during the winter when I'm covered up in public and nobody will see, but keep the pubic area smooth year round since only she sees it except maybe the doctor. It only itches by the third day so the trick is kep it up before it gets to the itching point.

shaving is most utilized.

Trim your Pubic Hair
To make this process easier, trim the genital area before applying the razor! You'll save blades this way. Electric razors, clippers (with safety guards) or scissors work well. To get a closer cut and avoid unwanted nicks, pull the hair up then trim away.

Soaking
Take a long, warm bath beforehand. This softens coarse pubic hair and makes it easier to shave and style.

Lathering
Apply shaving cream or gel to lather the pubic area. A thin layer of petroleum jelly will help with a closer shave. Soap doesn't make the best lather for pubic shaving. Note that some people may have allergic reactions to certain shaving cream.

Shaving
There are many different ways to style your pubic hair. Think about it before you start and be as creative as you desire. It is recommended to shave the same way the hair grows. Avoid constantly stroking the same area during the shave because this may irritate the skin. Aim for two to three short strokes. Do stretch the skin to reach the difficult hairy spots.

Moisturizing
Rinse, dry and moisturize the freshly shaven pubic area. Baby oil and Aloe Vera work well. It's best to avoid moisturizers that contain fragrances and colors, since this may cause irritation. You may also want to use baby powder for comfort.

The pubic area is sensitive and may take time to adjust to the razor. Shaving once a week is enough for your first month. Don't worry about a smooth shave the first month.

Lol, boys are so funny. Personally I think it looks best trimmed a lot but not actally shaven. Girls shaving is a totally different matter! Men seem to love that. Women not so much. It won't make you look bigger, it will just look as though you haven't hit puberty yet, esp if your 15!

well, 1st time on this site..and i decided i had to post to this.

Frist off i think its just plain wrong for a man to shave his arm pits...men should have hair there..i think u would get called gay, if someone finds out (but u might be gay/bi, so its not that bad). I have shaved my balls once, it felt great, so soft and smooth that was a few months bk..and im 18. but soon the itching started and it was bad for about a week. once it got bk to a normalish length it felt ok again..normaly though i just trim the hairs just above it. im a very hairly person and like to keep it looking natural but looking decent and good.

Define the term "gay". I do not see whereby shaving underarms means you have an affection for another guy.

I am a male, 17, and I have been shaving since I was 16. What you have to keep in mind is that when you shave, you create micro cuts that are doors to STDs. The chances of getting Herpes increase A LOT because herpes is a skin-to-skin contact STD...

Hey there,

Actually I think it's really cool that a guy posted this. I was with a guy who shaved there and I've been with more who don't. Personally I think that if a girl has to, a guy should!
So that's my opinoin. It's not "less manly" it's less hassle to deal with and it makes things
Look better if you know what I mean.

Very popular post here...

I was with a guy who not only shaved his balls but got carried away and started SHAVING HIS LEGS. No, he was not an aquatic athlete, either. At the time, being so young and accepting of everything, I was okay with it.
Retrospectively, I am a little embarrassed for him
It seems like being young is a good time for experiments... a lot of young guys responded to shaving, but I would answer, do NOT proceed to other parts!
Maybe when you get older, the maintenance of it all becomes enough to withstand the fur.

Now, personally, my man has quite a jungle there. Because of the heat, the hair will eventually curl up and with enough friction/time, it will fall off. And because I'm used to it now, I wouldn't recognize his friend without his ruffles.

Just tell them "You dont mind getting a lil hair in your food".

Personally I shave, a couple times, I don't like having a jungle of hair. I Have had razor burn pulling off the "Bald Eagle" ITs unpleasant.

I really could care less what the male population thinks of shaving pubic hair. Im not pleasing them, but my lady. It really comes down to how comfortable you are dealing with the occasional itch from not having that padding.

I leave it up to you to decide. Its your body, and you've got to deal look at it in the mirror.

LOL, One thing to make a note of, if you want to accent your package or cookie, shave it, it makes it more appealing. And well your at it, Pierce it.

Decorate it like a present. ;)

Hi, see the below article. Herpes does not need a microcut to get into a person.

HSV-1 and HSV-2 can be found in and released from the sores that the viruses cause, but they also are released between outbreaks from skin that does not appear to be broken or to have a sore. Generally, a person can only get HSV-2 infection during sexual contact with someone who has a genital HSV-2 infection. Transmission can occur from an infected partner who does not have a visible sore and may not know that he or she is infected.

HSV-1 can cause genital herpes, but it more commonly causes infections of the mouth and lips, so-called "fever blisters." HSV-1 infection of the genitals can be caused by oral-genital or genital-genital contact with a person who has HSV-1 infection. Genital HSV-1 outbreaks recur less regularly than genital HSV-2 outbreaks

I doesn't get thicker if you shave... thats been disproven as an old wives tale.

Its common and if you like it do it, if you don't then don't. But give it a few weeks to get used to it before you decide either way. Just know the right way to do it. It will appear a bit more sensitive the first time so that's why I said give it a few weeks. I you like it then do it, if you don't then don't. Its your body and its your choice.

Out of total curiosity, and the fact that my nether regions looked like they could use a long awaited grooming, I decided last Thursday that since you only live once, I'd shave my pubes and balls. Damn, it felt good for the first day, it was incredible! But a few days later, I'm really regretting it, the itching is terrible, the stubble feels like sandpaper in my groin and the redness and bumps look like they could mutate into some kind of giant monster and terrorise a small town!

Guys, if you don't need to do it, don't do it, no matter what your girlfriend or wife says. Curiosity killed the cat, and mine certainly did some disturbing psychological damage. I wish I didn't do it, and once it grows back, I'll be glad.

When you shave the hair never comes back "darker" or "thicker" what happens is your hair is on three different growth patterns and if you shave frequently than the hair will be put at the same leangth making it look thicker. Also the mid strand of the hair is thicker than the tip once you cut the tip off the hair looks darker and thicker

All right thanks. Um a couple other questions. I plan to let it grow out, but if I don't shave it all will it even out or look completely deformed and should I shave it all? Also, I read somewhere that once you start shaving you can't stop. Why not? Thanks guys for the help.

Give it's a complete shave for a while... give it a chance to see how you like it, then let it grow out and it will be even. If you do nothing it will eventually even out ((pubic hair grows to a certain length unlike the hair on your head) but will look weird for a lot longer.

It might look bigger but in d first week you have problems mastusbating
& I don't think the babyish look is any apppealing
Also full hair give your underwear a fluffy look
So I love keeping it than not

I personally don't get the deal with shaving pubes... grooming I get... I trim quite often but actually shaving is itchy for a girl just as much for a guy, and you end up looking like a little kid... there's a reason for that hair... I like to know my guy has hit puberty :p but if you want to shave down there, a lot of girls don't really care, you've just gotten a picky one. It's a personal choice, I wouldn't do it for religion though... again, a personal choice... :D

Buy a cheap beard trimmer... you don't have to get it razor close unless that's what you like... Mostly men have more obstacles to move around, making shaving with a razor a little more dangerous.

Well I shave also and it is specifically for those reasons. 1. It doesn't itch when I shave but when the hair grows back I start to have minor itching and I feel so clean when I shave also. 2. It is easier to wipe and clean when I pee, LOL 3. I think it looks better and feels cooler and cleaner.

I'm barely 18, I turned 18 six days ago, so it's probably more of a maturity thing, not saying I'm mature or anything... I know I've still got a lot of that to do... but that's still more of what it is :)

I know I've still got a lot of that to do... but that's still more of what it is :)Its more common with the ladies than the guys... but based on locker rooms its catching on with guys as well.

Personally I love it when ladies shave. I never was in for the Neanderthal look. And I've been a fan since the late 1970's of the smooth look. So I do remember the resistance of the younger members at that age, it was extremely rare for guys back then and even fairly rare among the ladies... many had just never though to doing it back then. I was able to convince a few to do it and they liked it, a few just were not secure enough with their maturity at the time to do it as well for the very same reasons you expressed. It has nothing to do with little kids or anything like that. Hell, it was common with the Romans and the Greeks as well to do this, thousands of years ago, so its really not a new thing. Just something that's gaining in popularity (which I am thankful for)

I think its nasty looking at really bushy thick dark pubic hair... It looks a whole lot better shaved and is more comfortable also, I am speaking of women but men I don't care one way or another. I have never had any irritations, rashes or anything from shaving but when it starts to grow in I feel itchy and I have to shave. After shaving it feels nice and cool like a hair cut and I feel a whole lot better and cleaner. The first time that I done it the only worry that I had was getting cut done there but I have never been cut, I think once because I seen a little blood but it did not hurt. I think it is not as easy to get cut down there because I get cut easier on my legs, on my legs I have been cut maybe 4-5 times only since I have been shaving and only once for the bubic area and I don't use a lot of lather either. This was my only concern when shaving but it is no problems at all now because I am used to it and don't worry about getting cut. There is a bikini line/under arm ahaving cream that you can buy, it is made my Skintimate and you can use it for sensitive skin and for your bubic hair and it works good but really anything will be okay to shave with.

Unless you want to be working a cash register your entire life the discipline and learning from focusing on your studies carries on to life afterwards and effects your earning potiential. That applies to College students as well. And hey, I've been there as well so I am qualified to make the statement. Hmm I must say NO SHAVING! Wax it if anyting so it doesn't become a ruff sandpaper. There is nothing worse than a mouth full of hair and nothing worse then the feeling of sandpaper. So I say stick to waxing, or just trimming to be safe.

The hair removal products out there are not meant for skin as sensitive as that of the genitalia. It will burn/sting A LOT, and I recommend avoiding it. If someone wants to shave, using female safety (comfort) razors and female shaving cream is the best, as those products are meant to be used on sensitive skin (such as inner thigh) and will make shaving a good experience.

Ok, Here's my Answer from personal experience,

I am 13 years old and the first time I Shaved was about a month ago. It Itched like mad so I didn't shave any more. Recently I got a new girlfriend. So I went through making sure I was all nice and clean and smelling nice (the usual when you get a new girl, got to spend a lot of time on your appearance). Then I got to the goods... I really wanted to make sure I was up to date... so I shaved my pubes hoping to get a better outcome then last time. Well it was the same old itching and burning and scratching. I don't know if this is something you have to deal with every time you shave or what. I know it wears of about a week after you shave, but by that time you got to shave again. So when I shave I do it in the tub with really warm/hot watter, but I still get little red bumps. I really would like answers and help. I use a normal manual razor and I use shaving cream after I let my goods be in the water for about 2-3 minutes. O and I am a guy lol.

Trick is much like how you would do your face. In fact even after 30+ years of shaving my face is still more sensitive that down their. I find a good Gel to be better than a shaving cream, Use a good razor. I Like the Mach 3 but Currently use a Fusion 5 blade, a dull razor will tear your skin up as well as I find disposable razors to do, avoid those. I spread the gel around after each stroke, never do multiple passes over bare skin, downward angle strokes, side to side in each direction BEFORE doing an upstroke. Going directly to upstrokes will scalp you like you are seeming to describe.

I think it is perfectly fine to do it. The fact that most guys like their girls to have no hair in their lower areas and they are wild and gross isn't fair. They should at least return the favor. I personally think hair is gross and I don't like it anywhere. The only thing is if you are going to shave you have o make sure it is daily or else it is just gross and stubbly... lol eww.
But yeah it is fine, I like it that way.

Im about to turn 17, and I had trimmed my pubs once in the past but then allowed it to grow back. Now that summer is here and soccer is starting I said "Hey imma shave everything down there, because I thought less hair= less sweat." So its been about 2 days since I shaved and its really itchy now, I have some red bumps but not too much but it really itches under my balls. The hair is starting to grow back already and is very grain and short and maybe is poking my skin. I have a soccer practice tommrow and I need some advice, is there anyway to make the itching go away so I won't die at practice. Or should I just shave again to make it very smooth?

smoothy
Jun 19, 2007, 11:14 AM
Shave every other day and keep it that way. Just use a good gell (better than foam), ALWAYS use a good razor, not a disposable (likely reason for the bumps from scalping)... never pass a razor over bare skin without gel, I smear it around after each pass. Also wash well before shaving.

Soccer123
Jun 19, 2007, 11:28 AM
Ok so your saying that I should shave it again?

smoothy
Jun 19, 2007, 12:20 PM
Yes... never use up strokes until last. Side to side, downward diagonal in both directions then up strokes smearing shaving gel between strokes. I keep some on one palm while doing so. This avoids the red bumps you describe. Has for me anyway.

I use a Fusion 5 blade razor, The Mach III is almost as good. Avoid any disposable razor... any of them will cause this.

Soccer123
Jun 19, 2007, 01:14 PM
Yea so I did what you just said, but I did it wrong I didn't use the razer at an angle and instead of avoid thoese red bumbs I got more and I made a few cuts as well. So now am back to square one, what I really need is a solution that will get ride of the inch temporally so I can particpate in my practice tmrw.

Hello I'm a 16 year old female and I thought I should throw my opinion out there.
I personally don't like hairy men - and I mean hair anywhere so for me a guy that shaves everywhere including between his legs is perfect for me.
But then again some people don't like guys without hair and prefer a jungle it is all a matter of personal preference - it doesn't make you any more or less of a man for shaving your groine area.
You just have to make sure you do it as often as your can because stubbly regrowth isn't nice :)
But apart from that if you feel happier doing it - do so , and there are girls out there that like it better - they just don't reli want to say
Hope this has helped

You have to trim it as short as possible first before ever picking up a razor. And its personal choice. I find it much cleaner and easier to clean as well as less itchy in hot weather IF and only IF you keep it that way by shaving no more than every other day.

Its something you want to do and keep and not let go for a week between upkeep because then you will be prolonging that day 3 through day 5 itchy period. Otherwise don't do it at all.

You'l learn the technique fairly quick, what gets you smooth without getting razor burn. Much like you learned shaving your face. There is definitely a right way and a wrong way to do it.

Practice makes perfect. And don't worry, every so often I manage to do the same thing. About once a year. So even with experience you still manage to do that by accident every so often, I guess it helps you remember to pay attention.

I think that maybe just a trim would be suitable... But I'm not shaw... Would trimming it with sharp scissors cause any side effect ts such as the hair growing back thicker or darker...

Also, I do not know what my girlfriend would think, she shaves, but this is much more common for woman...

I am a girl and the first time I went down on my boyfriend, was the first time I had went down on anyone. After the initial reaction of "Oh holy crap it's a jungle down there" I became comfortable with the fact that he does not shave. He told me he trims, which I appriciate, but I don't think I would like it if he shaved all the way. But everyone is different. I shave all the way because I feel rather embarrassed when he goes down on me and it's a jungle. Plus it's not too bad for the hygine issue.

If your questioning whether you should shave for the opposite sex, and your in that close of a relationship, then talk to them about it when on the topic of sex. It could be better than putting yourself in a position where one of you is uncomfortable with it during sexual actions.

Can't believe this thread has gotten so long... I'd better sum it up for everyone.

Talk to who you are going to have sex with (wife, girlfriend, whatever) and ask them what they think about you shaving. If you like it just for jacking off (or masturbating) then fine, but the decision is really yours and your partner's. Shaving won't make your hair grow back any different, and there has been some talk of dying your hair with the small proportings on the side of the dye box.

Anything I missed?

There aren't many people, male or female that like a mouthful of smelly hair in or around their mouth. Much less the inevitable few strays that get in the back of your throat making you gag. Besides its cleaner, and smoother AND therefor more hygienic.

Now if you are one of those that enjoy that, fine... most people don't and therefor its NOT a pathetic topic.

Not many men enjoy nature girl... AKA cavewoman looks.

And Not many women really enjoy excessive body hair on guys.

I have been shaving my genitals since I was 18. I am now 31, it has been my experience that in FACT women of all ages prefer this smooth feel. I have had several partners that have experienced both the forested and shaved aspects. SMOOTH is DEFINITELY preferred.

And to women, try it some time you'll enjoy it too... NO one likes to stop to spit out hair...

Hi smoothy, I like your spirit in this issue. I am also with your opinion. I love a clean shaved genital. I started shaving my pubic hair regularly (I was trimming before) when I was 42 and now I am above 50. I cannot grow it for more than 10 days. I am doing a clean shave including my balls every 10 days and I love the feeling of my smooth balls and cock without a single hair surrounding it. I am with your opinion that no one will be interested to have a mouthful of smelly hair while they do oral.
