Hi ,

I am 29 year old male. From last 2 months my BP is high in the night.2 months back I was sleeping suddenly I feel some discomfort in the chest.I got up .Suddenly my heart beat start to increase and my bp was 170/100.

Doctors said my heart is normal.I did echo,ECG.I have mitral walve prolaps with trivial mitral regurgitation. My cholesterol level is 156(ldl)

They told me to do exercise and pranayama.

Yester day also in the sleep my heart beet increased and BP was 165/110

Please tell me why this is happening and what I have to do.

Thanks.

Yes, your heart could be normal and everything could check out but you could be tested for sleep apnea: Sleep Apnea - symptoms, causes, and treatment of central and obstructive sleep apnea on MedicineNet.com (http://www.medicinenet.com/sleep_apnea/article.htm). I can understand how your blood pressure would increase if your breathing were interrupted during sleep by apnea.

Doing deep breathing exercises (pranayama-yoga) is excellent, but don't see how that would help you during sleep. Because your body is losing the ability to breath in sleep, your blood pressure would climb owing to your heart having to work harder to keep your lungs working.

Just my opinion and food for thought. I am not diagnosing your condition just offering suggestions for consideration.
