Just had my 01 cavalier obd ran and cylinder 1 misfire came up. I had changed the plugs and wires and made sure all have spark. Even had compression test on all cylinders and checked good. At a lost and this is stopping me from passing yearly inspection. Help!

Replace the coil to that cylinder.

Make sure your not getting oil into the plug.

The ignition coil pack is bad. Replace the ignition coil pack. If this vehicle doesn't have ignition coil pack the follow this:
Verify spark is getting to plug
Verify spark plug has correct gap setting
Verify that the proper wire is connect to the proper plug
Use a scan tool to clear codes and test drive again

Tried the coil. Problem still there.

. Did you reset the ECM, after replacing the coil?

. Are the new spark plugs ACDelco single electrode plugs, gapped to specs?

. Did you lightly apply dielectric grease to the porcelain portion of each plug and to the spark plug wire connectors?

. Did you ensure spark plug wires are firmly seated?

If the problem persists, test/replace the Ignition Control Module and the Crankshaft Position Sensor--it really should not get this far.

Had to replace all plugs and wires because of wires cross sparking to the intake. A new coil for cylinder 1 and 4. pulled all connectors one by one for the injectors and all bogged down when pulled. Even added a can of seafom. Still has a misfire. I had a guy at a shop check it and he said it had something to do with the intake. He was spraying brake cleaner around the injectors trying to show how it cleared up but he ran out. Anything to this?

Is it possible to be the crankshaft or(don't remember off hand which one) crank position sensor with only one cylinder misfiring?

I have tried getting the icm checked but autozone doesn't have the manual page that corresponds to check it and o'reilly manual says only for models 97-00. I got one from the junk yard off a wrecked car and still the same problem.

Are you fixing up old cars for resale?

Naa This and any vehicle I post about are personal vehicles. Some things that go on with my vehicles I rather take care of myself rather than let a shop jack me out my money. Other than that I have a side mechanic I can barely catch up with reason being I just started doing things on my own.
