I had to turn off the main shut off valve in the house to fix a problem. When I turned it back on, it has a continuous drip. Is this common and do I just need to wait it out? I noticed similar problem with other shut off valves in the house. I'm worried about a flood!!

Take an adjustable wrench and tighten the packing nut on the valve. It will be the nut right below the handle.

Remember, lefty loosie, righty tighty...
