I quit smoking pot when I was 32 weeks pregnant. I am terrified that they will find something in my system. What is the chances of them finding something and what will happen? Will they take my baby away ? Please I need help!! I live in Ohio. I know all states are different and have different laws.

Frankly, I don't know exactly what will happen. They will have to do blood tests in the hospital and this MAY result in detection of the pot use. If it does, then the hospital MAY be required to report this to children's services as you HAVE endangered the health of your child.

But the bottomline is its too late to do anything. You should have thought of this as soon as you became pregnant. If they do detect the drug use then you will have to deal with the consequences.

What about the father, will he want to take the father away.

Normally at worst, they will want you to go though a parenting class and a AA class

I would be more terrified of the potential brain damage you have caused your child due to drug use during the critical second trimester than I would be about them 'finding something'.

Unless they are looking for something it is unlikely they will find something. Drug tests are expensive and unless they have a reason - such as brain damage - they will probably not look.

Which is a shame, because you endangered the life of your child.

Edited to add: if you love your child, inform you OB/GYN NOW of your drug use. Also, when you select a pediatrician, be sure to let him/her know the VERY FIRST TIME he sees your child.

Frankly, I have to wonder how badly you feel. I can understand if you smoked before you knew you were pregnant, then you might feel bad. But you CONSCIOUSLY continued to use pot almost to full term. That doesn't express much regret in my view.

You are, of course, entitlted to disagree, but not by using the Comments feature. To post a follow-up use the Answer this Post options.
