I just got a Sony location free TV device. Quick explanation - you put Location free next to your cable box. Hook up the coaxial and ethernet to the location free box. So... the location free is now hooked up to both your router and dvr/cable box. Now after some software installation you can watch live television from your laptop, sony psp, or pda phone.
My problem is... the location free is in my bedroom with my dvr however it is not possible for me to get the router into the room. I was thinking about setting up a WAP in my room so it can be connected to the internet. I do not know if this is the best idea.
Let me know what you think.

If you can't run a cable from your router or even to a closer connection with a switch, then purchasing an repeater from companies like d-link will work. The repeaters will repeat a wireless signal and you can plug an Ethernet connection locally to the device. The repeaters have other modes too. They tend to be a bit more pricy than routers.
I have no trouble running a standard definition signal from a Slingbox (location free) with wireless g.
Troubles will arise when streaming outside your home network because of the asymmetry of typical home connections.

Well I guess I shouldve mentioned this... I will mainly be using my location free off my local network. I travel for work so I will be using this device mainly in my hotel or anywhere I have internet connection.

I have 2 Location Free TVs. They are Sony products and are very different from the Slingbox.
You should be putting the base station part next to your router. It doesn't have to be anywhere in particular since it is wireless.

So you have to connect the location free t.v. to the dvr & internet but your router is too far away? Is this right?
