Even before taking office, Hillary Rodham Clinton is seeking to build a more powerful State Department, with a bigger budget, high-profile special envoys to trouble spots and an expanded role in dealing with global economic issues at a time of crisis.

Does this not “willfully suspend disbelief” ? I guarantee that one of them "special envoys " will be Bill Clintoon himself.

If Bill can charm the pants off world leaders and protect American interests as a 'Special Envoy'; what exactly is the problem with that?

Isn't that the goal of diplomacy, to charm others into a position of compromise which serves the interests of both parties? And I hear Bill has special skills with the ladies... ;)

The Richardson fiasco proves that the office of the President-elect Obama has trouble properly vetting his nominees. Now I have no doubt Evita will sail through the nominating process ;but I wonder if the Senate will investigate Bubba Bill's business associations with foreign interests . If a pay to play scandal can disqualify Richardson and get Blago arrested then the Evita nomination should be a non-starter just on her own scandals... let alone Bill's .
