I am in USA on L1B visa . Recently got married and my wife is in USA on L2 visa (december 2008). I want to know
1) if my wife should have SSN to file for her EAD or she can file for EAD without having SSN?
2) If the EAD is dependent on visa expiry. Currently her visa will expire on June 2009.

She must file for EAD first, after receiving the card, she must apply for SSN.

Normally EAD valid for one year except in certain conditions but EAD expiration date will never exceed the expiration date of the visa.

Thxs for the reply. I have already applied for her SSN & will now apply for her EAD.Hope this process is also OK and does not create any problem. Let me know about this.

I have 1 more question.
1) Since my spouse's visa is valid till May 09 that means she might get EAD till May 09. In case we return back to US in July -August 09 with fresh L1 -L2 visa , will she have 2 apply for her new EAD and again pay $340 as application fees or I can renew existing EAD with no additional fees ?
Thxs in advance..

When apply for new EAD, you need to submit new I-765 and $340 fee.. no exceptions.
