HI Friends,

My problem is like this. I have a 40GB HDD of Western Digital and Windows SP2. I have been using it from last one year and formated several times.

But now, before one week my PC suddenly starts showing Blue dump error and restarts again and again. PC gets restarted just before the login screen appears.

Then later on I decided to format the root partition (C drive) but Formatting starts and after accepting the License accepting stage ( pressing F8) it shows the error : ntfs.sys file is corrupt.

Then I tried to take the backup of my data so I tried to connect it to the secondary/slave to the PC. But it again restarts the PC in spite of connected to the secondary.
NOTE: When other HDD is connected system starts.

Now the system doesn't boot from the CD-ROM even though the BIOS setting has done for this, when this WD HDD is connected standalone.

My Data is very important for me. Please give me solution to this and C drive can be formatted but whole HDD I can't format because of my Data.
OR
Please tell me how do I take my HDD backup even if it is not formatting at all and problem persist.

Note: Harddisc detected in BIOS. It is working.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

Better you change the cd of sp2 or other wise format the c: with win98 after formatting restart the system while it restarts keep the xp2 cd in your cd drive hope it will work
