I read a book about 20 years ago.

The book consisted of 3 sisters who were orphaned and then separated when very young.

One I think was called Polly , the middle one was very shy and had problems, the youngest became famous .

Does anyone know the title of this book.

Could this have been "Ballet Shoes" by Noel Streatfield? I saw the movie and it was similar. The girls in the Streatfield novel are named Pauline, Petrova, and Posie. Good luck!
