I am having problems with Windows XP Pro and CD and or DVD Rom Drives on IDE. I keep getting "Code 37" Windows cannot initialize device driver for this hardware. In I have tried to troubleshoot via Windows (useless!) I have tried several registry cleaners. No help. Of course I can'r re-install the drivers as I only have them on CD. I have tried disconnecting the drive, reinstalling, even swapping in a different drive with the same result.
I have run anti virus programs as well. Could it be a BIOS or Software issue?
Please help!

Thanks!

Sounds like a driver issue. I would unplug the drives and restart the computer, making it think there was no drives. Then shutdown, plug them back in and reboot. Windows should find drivers for these devices.

It is a register problem. To find a solution, go to

http://www.webpronews.com/it/operatingsystems/wpn-22-20040331UndeletingFilesWindowsXPCantInitializeDriv er.html

And/or download

www.aumha.org/downloads/cdgone.zip

For me it worked and fixed the problem. (please follow instructions in readmefirst.txt file, especially on register backup).

I suggest also a visit to
