I live in the U.S. and may want to give my current vehicle to my son who lives in Canada. Can I do that without him having to pay tax on the vehicle? I need to know soon.

I said to work for a company that imported personal effects into Canada, including vehicles. Nope, he will have to pay taxes, the maximum non-taxable gift that can be imported is $60.00. For more details on the actual procedure see this link

He will have to pay 7% of the value in GST (minus the $60.00 expemption mentionned above) and then $100.00 excise tax if the car has a/c and then $182 to re-register it. Check on the link below to make sure the car is admissible into Canada, most US cars would be but you never know...
