How do I replace the push-pull valve on shower. It looks like it has a rubber or plastic gromet holding the valve in place and I can't figure out how to remove the gromet.

What's the brand name of the faucet ?

I don't know the brand... it's a foreclosed home approx 20 years old with original copper plumbing
