My son mother left him on my door step for hours with his belongings for hours... claiming she can't take it no more, referring to him misbehaving in school, he now resides with me. Is that child abandoment... also , I have a 19 yr old daughter who has finish school and works full time, but stills lives at home, am I still required to pay child support. I reside in nyc.

No its not child abandonment. Child abandonment is a criminal charge where a child is left without supervision.

However, it does mean a change of custody, so you should go to court and file for a midification of the custody agreement.

As for your daughter, NYS allows child support until 21. Unless your support order says different you still have to pay.

It is not criminal, but it is grounds to go back to family court for a change in custody.

For the 19 year old, you will need to file to have it ended.
