I need some help deciding how to get that thing out of his mouth! Currently, he usually only gets his "mimi" (that's how he says it) a few minutes after getting up in the morning, then a few minutes before his afternoon nap (and during nap of course) and then a few minutes before bed(and while sleeping). He goes to daycare one week a month and keeps it in the portacrib there and doesn't even ask for it the rest of the time.
The problem is, he starts wandering around the house looking for one when he gets tired or sad or bored, then whining for it, then pulling me to go get one where he thinks they might be hid. He throws a holy hell temper tantrum if we tell him no and cries and cries. Now, he turned two in August, it's time for this thing to go! I really dread having to put him to bed and to nap without it, because I don't think he'll sleep. It's going to be awful!
I have a week off work between Christmas and New Year's and I think this would be the perfect time, because I won't have to inflict his crankiness on anyone else! Does anyone have any extra pointers? I never had this trouble with my 11yr old girl. She never had a mimi, and when it came time to give up the bottle, we threw them in the garbage together and they were gone. He is a little less mature than she was and I don't think that will work with him. Thanks for the advice in advance!
