I was fired today from work for stealing 700.00 dollars. They told me that they wanted to work with me on this because I am pregnant and have a young child. I told them that I would pay it back within a week. My record is clean. How much time can I serve if they decide to prosecute me?

If you have never had any other problem, you "most likely" if in the US, get a couple years probation, a large fine and still have to pay it back, but then you also would have a criminal record.
If they are just letting you pay it back, that would be best.

Stealing from an employer is a lot more serious than, say, shoplifting. I say pay it back to make the employer happy and be prepared for probation and a fine (as FrChuck said).
I don't see you serving time unless if this is your first offense but, of course, I'm not the Judge.
