Okay so I'm 15 and going to be 16 in April. The guy that I like is 22 and he's going to be 23 in Jan. We wouldn't have sex or do extreme stuff like that. But the problem is that he's my best friends step-brother, my best friend and his dad would be possibly mad if they found out. So would it be illegal for us to possibly date?

p.s. We both live in Pennsylvania.

I always worried about dating my best friends brother because of how awkward it would be if it didn't work out. I found out a long time ago that he liked me and I liked him too but after thinking about it for while we decided we didn't want to ruin our friendship. This is just another idea to think about. I'm not familiar with your laws at all, I'm going to be honest, but I don't think it's illegal to date, to have sex is another story. I know in a lot of states anyone under 18 is considered a minor so someone could pressed charges against him.

Don't say "We wouldn't have sex or do extreme stuff like that...". Dating can lead to sex easily especially in young couple. You are playing with fire and this could ruin his future as well as yours. Here's the law in your state:

Pennsylvania 18 § 3121: Statutory Rape
* Rape to engage in sexual intercourse with a complainant who is less than 13 years of age.
* Rape to engage in deviate sexual intercourse with a complainant who is less than (1) 13 years of age or (2) 16 years of age and the actor is four or more years older.

Penalty is up to 20 years in prison.

It's best for both two of you to keep distance and see if your feelings for each other are still the same when you grow up in the next few years. Many looked back and found it amusing as they never imagined they could be that stupid!

I would find someone else if I were you. It doesn't sound like you are in love with each other, so it is no tragedy to split up
