I want to turn a 1/2 bath into a full bath. This 1/2 bath currently sits directly behind another full bath. The toilets are positioned side by side with the separating wall between them.

I would like to construct the shower in the current toilet position, and move the toilet to the wall directly behind the bath/shower in the full bath. As there are drains in both locations, will major construction need to be done to these drains?

It depends on if you can access from under the floo. Toilet pipe is a 4" and tub/shower 2.5". It feel it is a big job. The new toilet position needs 4" which needs runs to main drain 4".
The tub/shower should run to vented 2.5" pipe with trap under the tub.

Guess it depends on the TYPE of piping/plumbing. If plastic pipes (white or black plastic) then it shouldn't be a major issue if wet venting is allowed in your area (call a local plumbing inspector and just ask if he allows wet venting of a toilet with a sink/shower). If cast iron pipes then plan for it to be much harder to move pipes around.

Most cast iron toilet pipes are 4". Plastic toilet pipes can be 3" or 4" and all showers are piped 2" with a 2" ptrap and strainer assembly... just FYI!
