:mad:I have a kenmore dryer MOD#66934 that won't run. The timer ticks and when I open the door the timer stops. I can also press the start button and it will make a tick after the door is opened but no other noises at all. I opened front panel and belt appears fine. I checked for clogs and everything looked pretty clear. Any other ideas?

The motor that rotates the tub is not operating. Could be the motor or the motor end switch. OR it could be the timer has a bad set of motor contacts.

Fiznowler - HVAC-1000 gave you some valuable information; NOW IF YOU WANT TO DO SOME CHECKING ON YOUR OWN< TO DO SPME TESTING :: OK YOU WILL NEED A VOLT_OHMS METER <ONE THAT WILL HANDLE 220VOLTS:: THERE ARE DIFFERENT THINGS THAT WILL CAUSE YOUR PROBLEM> #1- NO POWER AT WALL OUTLET::
#2- DEFECTIVE DOOR SWITCH::
#3- OPEN CIRCUIT IN POWER CORD;;OR THE TERMINAL BLOCK ON THE BACK OF THE DRYER #4- FAULTY START SWITCH :: #5- DEFECTIVE TIMER::
WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO DO ::
#1- CHECK THE WALL RECEPTICAL FOR 220 VOLTS ( HAVE THE METER SET FOR VOLTS AC
AND SET AT 220 or next highest voltage . IF YOU HAVE 220 VOLTS AT THE RECEPTICAL <THEN GO AHEA AMD CHECK THE POWER CORD> AT THIS POINT DISCONNECT THE POWER CORD FROM THE WALL <SET THE METER TO RX1 ON OHMS SCALE TOUCH A PROB TO EACH END OF EACH WIRE ( SAME ONE EACH TIME ) IF YOU HAVE A FULL SCALE READING ALL THE WAY ACROSS TO HIGH SIDE THE WIRE IS GOODIF the wires don't then you have a problem right there, REPLACE THE CORD::
#2 with the meter set on RX1 OHMS SCALE , NO POWER ON DRYER AT ALL NOW THREW THE REST OF THE TESTS:: REmove the top of the dryer so to get access to the door switch, It should be easy to spot:: it will be a button or a LEAVER MOUNTED ON THE CABINET:: TO TEST _ REMOVE THE WIRES COMEING TO IT AND TOUCH OR CLIP THEM ON THE TERMINALS OF THE SWITCH :: CLOSE THE SWITCH WITH YOU FINGERS :: IF THE METER READING IS ( ZERO ) THE SWUITCH IS GOOD:L: IF IT READS HIGH THEN IT IS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDS REPLACED :: ::TO TEST THE START SWITCH:: REMOVE THE TOP PANEL ON THE DRYER: DISCONNECT THE WIRES COMEING TO THE SWITCHTHEY WILL BE HEAVY WIRES:: Hook the probs ,one to each of the wire terminals,TURN START SWITCH TO NORMAL DRY, IF METER READS ZERO OHMS THE SWITCH IS GOOD IF IOT READS HIGH THEN IT IS FAULYTY AND NEEDS REPLACED #3- To test the timer switch:: Diswconnect ONE OF THEm, the wires comeing to the switch
TOUCH ONE OF THE METER PROBES TO the timer terminals :: watch the meter and if the needle reads zero the switch is good if the meter reads lhigher then it is defecttive >replace:: OK don't forget to re connect the wires and remember that 220volts don't have any regreats forgivness:: stay safe by the way on the power cord <if it is three wires <then the two outside wires are the hot wires and the center wire is the ground
Hope this helps you out and you find the trouble :<: I THINK THAT YOU WILL FIND THE TROUBLE IN THE DOOR SWITCH OR THE START SWITCH . Let us ALL KNOW :: have a nice day and god bless ( good luck ) :: F.B.E.
