Have odor in new (less than 1 yr) shower, suspect mold/mildew in walls. Tried multiple chemicals, scrubs, etc. Contractor suggested finding a business that can test air for mold and mildew. Need a business to test air quality and determine if mold, mildew present in walls. Any know, suggest such a business in Central Calif? <Email address removed for privacy.>

Hi, cilljoe!
I moved your thread to this forum area because I think that you'll be able to get much more helpful information here than if it was left in the Small Business forum area.
I also needed to remove your personal email address to avoid you getting spammed by those who like to find email addresses that are exposed on the Internet.
Thanks!

Open the walls as needed to locate mold growth then have it tested if needed:)

You should be able to find a company that can test for mold in your yellow pages, look under mold, mildew, or moisture control. They can test without opening the walls

You must have a leak in a pipe or seal for mold or mildew to grow.
You can get it checked but it should be fixed.

There is a company call Indoor Environmental Quality that has a few offices throughout California. They do mold testing and other air quality testing. Their website is Indoor Environmental Control - Mold Remediation (http://www.moldmen.com)
Just to let you know what they will do is an air test which is just simply taking an open vial into the room and then capping it off to test it at their laboratory. And if they suspect mold growth behind surfaces they will most likely want to make holes in the walls so they can do tape lifts to test for mold.
Just thought I'd let you know that so it isn't a huge shocker if they want to bust a hole in your walls.
Hope this helps,
Aaron
