Three weeks a go a student in my classroom became upset with me and tripped me up as I was walking around in the classroom. Initially I thought it was just a simple fall, that would not cause much pain , if any. However, it has been 3 weeks and I am still in a lot of pain. When I fell I landed on my left knee and hands, and then fell flat. Both my left knee and hip are in almost constant pain. I am allegic to NSAIDS so the doctor gave me some ultram and flexeril, when I told him they made me sleep all day he switched me to davocet. My stomach is beganing to hurt and I threw up yesterday and the day before after taking 2 davocets. My question is, should I be having this much pain 3weeks after falling? I am doing Physical Therapy twice a week, and I saw a orthopedic last week. He gave me a cortisone injection in the hip, this has helped a little but I am still in a lot of pain especially in my knee, really my whole leg hurts and I don't rest well at night. Can a little fall like this cause a 49 year old woman in relatively good health to hurt like this?

What do your Doctors say? Flexeril - I'm sure you know - is a muscle relaxant. What kind of pain are you suffering, joint, muscle - ?

Being 49 and landing the way you did will take awhile for your body to heal up properly. I am in my early 60's and twisted my left ankle back in May. Still am having problems from it. I did find that a pain relieving cream called Mobaysil (non rx item your pharmacy may have to order for you - costs around $7) helps me. Greaseless, no smell, no icy or hot sentation but just relief after you put on about 10 minutes later. This may help your pain until your body heals up properly. You could have strained some ligaments and they are slow healing. Bed rest totally off your leg is the best though. I've cut down on my walking and standing to help my ankle heal. I didn't go to doctor even though my ankle and most of my left foot was black and blue. Since it did not swell up too much I figured I didn't have a hairline fracture and just really did a number on my ankle. I saw stars, mars and candybars when it happened.
