First, thank you for such great place where people can find answers to their questions.

One of my two Hampton Bay ceiling fans stopped working.

How can I check if there is a problem with my remote control or with that fan?

It seems that there is no problems with power, because the lights are on (I can turn them on and off with the switch on the wall.

I changed the battery in that remote control; when I press any of the buttons on the remote control the red light is blinking.
However, I cannot to turn off lights or turn on the fan.

Please advice.

Thanks in advance.

Nick

Chances are if the red light still blinks, the problem is in the fan/receiver.. . But the way to know for sure is to purchase a replacement Universal remote. Cheap and readily available. If it doesn't work then you know the remote is safe and you can return the new one.

I have hampton bay ceiling fan controlled by remote only.
The fan keeps on running and even if I use the remote switch to turn off the fan, the fan does not turn off. Please advise how should I do it?
Thanks

Does the fan respond to the remote at all? When you push buttons on the remote, does the LED light up?

I have identical problem with HB fan: remote appears to be OK (LED blinks) - fan is stuck on one speed, up/down lights don't work, plus the reverse mode has never worked. I read in thread above that NickT resolved his problem, thanks to CeilingFanRepair, but does not mention what he did... did the remote change work, or did he get a new receiver?
According to Home Depot salesperson, the guarantee on the fan is extensive, so I am going to attempt to return it. With all the problems I'm reading about, perhaps a different brand would be the wiser choice. BTW, unit is only 2 months old.
Finally, if all else fails, I'll call the company (hmmm I wonder if THEY'RE in India, too? - thanks for all the contact numbers via this board.

RETURN IT if it's only 2 months old. Save yourself the hassle. We could figure it out and fix it, and then it would break again.

I have a hb fan with remote that I have not installed yet.the current fan in the kitchen is run from a wall switch at either entrance.once this fan is installed and the remote is used to turn on the light, can you turn the light off and on with just the wall switch or do you always have to use the remote?

Some remotes work that way, others do not. Try it.

Black goes to L. The rest you will have to figure out yourself with trial and error.
