My son was around my cousin on Saturday night who got the chicken pox on Monday, is it possible that my son can get them. Was she carrying the virus although she had no symptoms at the time. Just a bit concerned because my son is 2.

She was probably carrying the virus, but if you're cousin didn't have a fever then she may not have given the virus to your son. I would load him up with Vitamin C and buy some calamine lotion just in case :)

The virus is already present a few days before the actual eruptions. Just watch your son for the beginning of the rash. If he does get it, he is HIGHLY contagious up to the time all the eruptions are totally dry. Those fluid filled blisters they get, are filled with the virus. Keep him away (isolate) from children or adults that have never had chickenpox. Do not give Aspirin if he develops a fever. Instead use Tylenol. Always seek medical attention for him if you have any further concerns. I hope that helps. Also, getting the vaccine does not prevent chicken pox BUT can decrease the number of eruptions and therefore a milder disease.
