Hi there. Me and my fiancé are both 20 years of age. We have been Trying to conceive for the past 4 months now. With just no luck at alllllll.
Well, I got my period last month like normal then we tried again. Yet, on the 21st I got slight pink spotting barely enough for a pantyliner. It stopped except for possibly 2 to 3 spots the next day. Very light pink. Well, today Ive had a few small cramps but nothing like my period. Im not due for my period until around the 4th... but I'm slightly irregular soemtimes so Im not sure exact date.

Could this have been Implantation Bleeding or something else?

Can you have symptoms of pregnancy and a high chance of being so... but just have your mind tell you that you aren't pregnant and just feel like your mind is right and you're never going to be pregnant?

You could be in denial. Have you done a HPT or gone to the see a doctor yet?

iloveshane
Nov 25, 2008, 06:20 AM
No HPT yet.

I'm not due for about a week

But the other day I think I had implantation bleeding and I've been having headaches and back aches and I've been tired beyond belief.

But my mind just keeps saying you're not pregnant... you're not pregnant...

I recently delivered a baby to a gal who denied being pregnant at all. As was mentioned above, it's called denial. You should get a pregnancy test if you have missed your period and you think there is even the slightest chance of pregnancy.

The bleeding that I think was implantation bleeding the other day lasted only a few hours.. was light pink and barely enough for a panty liner.

If your period is not due for another week, you will have to wait to see whether it comes or not.

So, it's completely possible for me to be pregnant right now?

Or... is my mind right... shouldnt a woman know if she is or isn't..

J_9
Nov 25, 2008, 06:28 AM
Sometimes a woman knows, other times she doesn't. The patient I had recently thought she was just constipated, she was actually 9 months pregnant.

While it's possible for you to be pregnant, it's impossible for us to diagnose you over the internet, it is also impossible to tell quite yet as you haven't missed your period.

Anybody can start a website. I am a nurse in the women's health field. If you were my patient I would advise you to wait and see if your period starts. If it does, chances are you are not pregnant, if it doesn't... take a HPT.

Here is some good info on pregnancy.

Well, may I ask your medical opinion on something then

Do you think that what I had was implantation bleeding?

J_9
Nov 25, 2008, 06:42 AM
No, I don't believe in implantation bleeding. You see, what most women consider implantation bleeding is the very early beginning of their period, then the hormone hCG kicks in and stops the period before it comes on.

Look at it this way. The egg, when implanting into the uterus is smaller that a pencil dot. Smaller than that period at the end of this sentence. If you think constructively about that, would something so microscopic cause bleeding? Nah.

If you read the link I provided above, you will see that this is a very rare occurrence and not proven medically.

Very well could be a positive sign... everything you are saying are either signs of pregnancy conception (especially the cramping) or stress.

I just don't know when to test or how common these symptoms are in woman...

xoxaprilwine
Nov 26, 2008, 10:20 PM
These symptoms are very common in a woman even if your not pregnant. I find they are exaggerated when pregnant and honestly your intuition will be the first judge... well it was with my two. Depending on your cycle (21 or 28) get a test 4 days before or on the day of your next expected period... not before... it will not say anything. If you want to be sure you can request a blood test requisition form from your doctor to ensure that nothing is missed as we know that the urine test can sometimes be inaccurate. So get tested on the 12th or 20th of December... best of luck.

Pregnancy symptoms differ from woman to woman and pregnancy to pregnancy; however, one of the most significant pregnancy symptoms is a delayed or missed menstrual cycle. Understanding the signs and symptoms of pregnancy is important because each symptom may be related to something other than pregnancy. Some women experience signs or symptoms of pregnancy within a week of conception. For other women, pregnancy symptoms may develop over a few weeks or may not be present at all. Below is a listing of some of the most common pregnancy signs symptoms. If you have been sexually active and experiencing any of the following symptoms it is important to take a pregnancy test.

Implantation Bleeding:

Implantation bleeding can be one of the earliest pregnancy symptoms. About 6-12 days after conception, the embryo implants itself into the uterine wall. Some women will experience spotting as well as some cramping.

Other Explanations: Actual menstruation, altered menstruation, changes in birth control pill, infection, or abrasion from intercourse.

Free Medicaid Application Assistance
Delay/Difference in Menstruation:

A delayed or missed menstruation is the most common pregnancy symptom leading a woman to test for pregnancy. When you become pregnant, your next period should be missed. Many women can bleed while they are pregnant, but typically the bleeding will be shorter or lighter than a normal period.

Other Explanations: Excessive weight gain/loss, fatigue, hormonal problems, tension, stress, ceasing to take the birth control pill, or breast-feeding.
Swollen/Tender Breasts:

Swollen or tender breasts is a pregnancy symptom which may begin as early as 1-2 weeks after conception. Women may notice changes in their breasts; they may be tender to the touch, sore, or swollen.

Other Explanations: Hormonal imbalance, birth control pills, impending menstruation (PMS) can also cause your breasts to be swollen or tender.
Fatigue/Tiredness:

Feeling fatigued or more tired is a pregnancy symptom which can also start as early as the first week after conception.

Other Explanations: Stress, exhaustion, depression, common cold or flu, or other illnesses can also leave you feeling tired or fatigued.
Nausea/Morning Sickness:

This well-known pregnancy symptom will often show up between 2-8 weeks after conception. Some women are fortunate to not deal with morning sickness at all, while others will feel nauseous throughout most of their pregnancy.

Other Explanations: Food poisoning, stress, or other stomach disorders can also cause you to feel queasy.
Backaches:

Lower backaches may be a symptom that occurs early in pregnancy; however, it is common to experience a dull backache throughout an entire pregnancy.

Other Explanations: Impending menstruation, stress, other back problems, and physical or mental strains.
Headaches:

The sudden rise of hormones in your body can cause you to have headaches early in pregnancy.

Other Explanations: Dehydration, caffeine withdrawal, impending menstruation, eye strain, or other ailments can be the source of frequent or chronic headaches.
Frequent Urination:

Around 6-8 weeks after conception, you may find yourself making a few extra trips to the bathroom.

Other Explanations: Urinary tract infection, diabetes, increasing liquid intake, or taking excessive diuretics.
Darkening of Areolas:

If you are pregnant, the skin around your nipples may get darker.

Other Explanations: Hormonal imbalance unrelated to pregnancy or may be a leftover effect from a previous pregnancy.
Food Cravings:

While you may not have a strong desire to eat pickles and ice cream, many women will feel cravings for certain foods when they are pregnant. This can last throughout your entire pregnancy.

Other Explanations: Poor diet, lack of a certain nutrient, stress, depression, or impending menstruation.

Haha, that's what you say now till your butt becomes a WIDE LOAD... hehe. No its worth it for sure... let me know how it goes, I really hope you get the results you want. While you guys are trying stay away from alcohol, pills and stuff like that (which I am sure you are) and they have fertility pills OH one more thing... start the maternal vitamins now... it never hurts to get a jump start on the folic acid. :)

Nov 27, 2008, 04:58 PM
Let me add that you have only been trying for 4 months. It takes the average couple as long as a year of active trying to conceive. Make sure you are already taking prenatal vitamins if you aren't at this point. Your body needs folic acid to make a healthy baby free of neural tube defects. Folic acid is necessary prior to conception because we never know exactly when conception happens.

Neural tube defects, such as spina bifida, happen in early pregnancy, usually before we even know we are pregnant and are irreversible.

I would also like to know where aprilwine got her info. I am not saying it is incorrect, but it is best to quote your sources on a site like this rather than to make it look like your own advice.

Ok, on the 21st I got light LIGHT pink spotting that didn't even fill a pantyliner up. I had already ovulated and been Trying to conceive with my husband.
It stopped after that day and never came back.
Since around that time I've had small headaches basically every single night.
Ive had dizzy spells and some moments of just slight nausea out of nowhere.
Now for the past few days I've been having an increase in vaginal discharge.. which is rare for me because I never get it.
I'm due to start my period some time this week (im irregular) but its usually on the 3 to the 6th)

Could I be pregnant??

p.s.. ive also been tired beyond belief.. wanting to nap CONSTANTLY! Lol

Of course, anytime that you've had unprotected sex there is a possibility of pregnancy. But you can't know for sure until you take a test. And if you're due in the next few days, it might be too soon to get a positive. The HCG might not be high enough in your system for that.

Wait a few days, if you still haven't started your period, take a test with your first morning urine. And be sure to let us know how things go.

Good luck! =)

im just so confused.

but it might be because we've been trying for the psat 4 months with no luck.

I have been pregnant twice. (I miscarried the first time.) I had a gut feeling that I was pregnant the first time, but the second time I actually ended up taking 5 different tests (all positive) before I really believed it.

I know it's hard, but try not to worry or fret too much over the "am I? or aren't I?" It takes time to find out for sure. And don't worry over trying for four months... that will seem like just a drop in the bucket when you do have your little one someday. :)

Keep us posted.

Well, I had a misscarriage last month.

But I didn't have any of the symptoms then that I'm having now.. or am believing to have.

*sigh* lol

While it's a possibility that you may be pregnant, the average couple can take up to a year to get pregnant. I'm sorry to hear about the miscarriage, that must have been very tough and discouraging. However my advise would be to just have fun with it! Worrying about it may just make it harder to conceive. :) Good luck with everything, let us know how it goes!

I just hate the waiting game lol.

Its now the 4th.. so.. like I said I usually start between the 3rd and the 6th.. so.. two more days until I'll know if I'm late.

Dec 4, 2008, 05:18 PM
Well, you are either pregnant OR your body is responding to the stress of the miscarrage and your desire to be pregnant. My body made me think I was pregnant for two months before I was even pregnant and I was not even Trying to conceive me and the hubby were using protection to hold of babies until a few more years. So, it is possible to have stress and underlying this play a trick on your hormones. I had all the pregnancy symptoms and my periods would come, but they would be short and weird. ARGH! I know the waiting sucks! Believe me! But give it a few days and please let us know what happens.

Good luck.

If you can't wait an extra couple of days cause you want an accurate result... go to the dollar store and by a few tests.

That way you can take one right away... and then have a few more left over.

They work fine. I have always used them. There is no need to buy the expensive brands.

I think I might want to wait like... 5 more days for it to be an exact week.

I don't want to get way too pumped up about this...

But, It might already be too late. Lol

After 4 months of Trying to conceive.. I hope this is finally it.

There's no sign of my period started except my breats are BARELY sore.. which is weird.. because I never get that.. but.. you never know.

Um, I'm a guy and I hope you're not uncomfortable with me talking about this.

But, although I do understand your anxiety, at the current moment you are either pregnant or not, regardless of whether you take the test. If it turns out to be negative, you will be sad whenever you find out anyway, so I don't really see the point in waiting...

If it turns out to be positive, Yay! If not, you'll be sad, but you can start trying again sooner than later. I really encourage taking the test soon, there's no point building up false hopes, nor delaying good news!

Good luck!

Certainly you could be pregnant... you've been actively trying, so that tends to up the odds a bit. I never felt pregnant in the beginning with any of mine... my first inclination that something might be up was missing my period.

It is normal to not feel pregnant. I am 4 1/2 months and I still don't feel pregnant.

Wait until the morning... you may not have had enough urine to allow the test to be valid, you may be pregnant and it is just too early still, or you may not be pregnant and just late or skipping your period this month. Hope you have some good news in the morning! If still negative, see what happens when your next period is due, or test again in another week or two if still no period. Good luck!

I thought I was every month, but never was, then I finally said to myself I no I won't get pregnant and the very first month I didn't even think about it, I found out I was pregnant. But those cramps, if it does turn out that you are pregnant, mention those, that's how I found out I was pregnant, I had BAD cramps, the doctors thought it was and ectopic pregnancy, it wasn't but I did lose the baby, so make sure to tell the doctor about every little cramp, good luck to you.

How did you find out you were?

How many days late and was it a home pregnancy test or a blood one?

Saibasu
Dec 17, 2008, 01:40 PM
Well implantation bleeding does occur in pinkish spots, so that's good. I doubt the peeing a lot is a sign though, you wouldn't be far enough along, it happens when the weight of the fetus puts pressure on your bladder, so don't know about that, but a lot of people are dead tired at the beginning, I was, Could hardly get out of bed. And the twinges, you wouldn't feel those yet, it may feel like you have a lot of gas though, that's sort of how it feels, like you have gas haha. Don't let your mind trick you into things, The bleeding is a big sign, and the tired feeling, when did you last do a pregnancy test?

Saibasu
Dec 17, 2008, 01:41 PM

I will NOT "have a heart".

My husband and I can afford a child, but are infertile. Maybe if I didn't have to pay so many taxes to support people having kids who can't support them, we could afford to try IVF.

How would you feel about your tax dollars giving me $25k this year so that I can get pregnant? I mean, I REALLY want a child! "Have a heart" and donate money to me so that I can, will you?

My opinion is that if she can't afford to go to the doctor to find out whether she's pregnant, then she has NO BUSINESS getting pregnant in the first place.

Saibasu
Dec 17, 2008, 02:47 PM
Of course there are some things she has to consider, and yes going into a planned pregnancy with no money, is a little dangerous, I just want to make her feel OK, because if she is already pregnant and plans to keep it, no matter what someone says they won't change her mind, I just want to try and help her in the right direction, for the decision she made, that's all, thank you southerngalps, Its just for her she has made up her mind, so I have to see passed the decision to make one and help her deal with she is confronted with right now is all. Saibasu
Dec 17, 2008, 03:38 PM
Don't mind the hurtful things hun, its around 250.00 and yes a negative test can be late, when did you first see the spotting?

iloveshane
Dec 17, 2008, 03:39 PM
The 21st exactly. And it only lasted like 4 hours... pink and so light that it just barely filled a pantyliner.

Saibasu
Dec 17, 2008, 03:44 PM
Well then it hasn't been a full month right? A pregnancy test can be roughly accurate 3 - 4 weeks after conception, so there is still time yet, the biggest indicator is the 11 days of missed period. But a blood test can accurately tell 3 weeks after conception, and the pinkish spotting for a few hours fits right in there with the implantation bleeding, are your breasts sore, more than usual maybe similar to your period?

iloveshane
Dec 17, 2008, 03:46 PM
No my breasts aren't sore... but they usually are before I start... but they aren't at all

I have dizzy spells sometimeswhere even when I lay down I feel it

And sometimes I go into like a heat feelings where I just feel hot

I feel like I have symptoms of cold but I don't have one

Saibasu
Dec 17, 2008, 03:50 PM
Ah ha, the hot flashes, I had those from the very beginning when I was pregnant. Not everybody does but I sure did. As for the dizzyness, if you are pregnant and not eating the right foods then that could be a factor to that, your body is working overtime when your pregnant so the right vitamins are key. As well you shoulf be taking folic acid, are you?

iloveshane
Dec 17, 2008, 03:53 PM
So the hot flashes are a sign?

And it might be lack of eating I don't know

Annnd no I haven't been taking folic.. idk where to get them

Saibasu
Dec 17, 2008, 03:57 PM
It is recommended to start taking folic 3 months Before trying to conceive, it is one of the most important things you can do to help avoid against abnormalities, you can pick up folic acid at any drugstore. If you are indeed pregnant your doctor will most likely give you a prescription, for 5 mg a day to help you catch up, but until then you can pick them up at a drugstore and I believe they should be, 0.4mg, you don't need a prescription for a low dose like that.

iloveshane

And so when should I test if I'm not even a month yet. My last period was November 6-9th

Then the bleeding on the 21st and now I'm 11 days late...

Saibasu
Dec 17, 2008, 04:03 PM
Well, Give it one week from today, you should have a definite answer by then, and yes the hot flashes are so irratic, they come and go all over the place, its totally normal. If you can't Wait a full week at least give it until the 22nd, like 4 days from now.

Saibasu
Dec 17, 2008, 04:05 PM
As well there is a book I have called " What to expect when you're expecting" it has everything in it ,a month by month all the possible signs, definite signs, I got it here right now, it is like a pregnant woman's bible, or for women who think they are. It really helps.

I'll call the hospital tomorrow to heck up on pries and appoinments and such

GirlWSlingshot
Dec 17, 2008, 04:07 PM
I can certainly understand craving to be a mother. And I'm only a year older than you so this isn't entirely based on age. I was 20 when I delivered my son. But how can you provide for a child if you don't have a job and have no insurance for proper pre-natal care?

If you're unemployed and do find yourself to be pregnant, I would suggest looking into getting on your mom or dad's policy through their work. Sometimes you'll have to prove that you're a full time student to be on their policy after age 19 but a simple call to their HR department should tell you if that's an option. Going through a pregnancy without insurance can be extremely expensive. The latest estimate I heard is $3000 for doctor's fees - that was just pre-natal visits, including the standard 20 week ultrasound. Then you're looking at about another $5000 for the hospital's fees for the birth. And that's just if you have a normal, uneventful birth.

What state are you in?

Saibasu
Dec 17, 2008, 04:08 PM
Well the blood test can already tell you at this point so I say the blood test, it can give you a trusted answer, just go for the blood test asap and boom you got your answer.

GirlWSlingshot

not for at least two more months when he goes into the family business

Well in the meantime, if you're not pregnant yet, you might want to think about waiting to Trying to conceive. There are so many medical costs involved. And I would hate for something to go awry because you couldn't afford the appropriate prenatal care.

Even once your fiancé has insurance available to him though, you probably won't be eligible for it until you're legally married. The baby would be covered once it is born, but in the meantime, all your pregnancy and delivery related costs would have to be paid in cash.

Synnen
Dec 17, 2008, 04:28 PM
Getting married BEFORE getting pregnant would be a good idea---especially if he's got a new position coming up, because often you can add your spouse and children in the first x many days to company insurance, but after that it's not until the open enrollment dates--which at my company are in November.

His insurance will cover NOTHING for you, generally, unless you are married. Also, if you're not married, they won't cover any of the prenatal care for a baby.

Whatever happened to getting married and THEN trying to have kids? Seriously! The financial side of that alone is worth doing in that order.

Seriously--get your finances in order, between you and your fiancé, BEFORE trying to have a kid that you won't be able to afford to take to the doctor when it's sick.

Iloveshane, wait another week and re-test or go to your doctor for a blood test.

It could be that your period is just off this month or that you'll skip your period entirely. It happens to all of us.

You have been a bit stressed about this, don't lie to yourself, you come here everyday to post that you're another day late, so obviously it's on your mind, and that causes stress which can cause your period to be thrown off.

You either are or you aren't pregnant, stressing about it won't change anything. Just to be on the safe side why not get prenatal vitamins and start taking them. If you are pregnant then they're important for the baby, if not, they won't hurt you.

Good luck.

Some women don't ever get a positive result with a hpt even when they are pregnant.

I know it's hard to play the waiting game, but worrying about it won't help.

Baby dust to you, I hope it works out for you, if not, it will one day, just remember that.

It took me 7 months of trying to conceive my son and 10 months to conceive my daughter, we were done. Then we had one night of drunken sex, forgot a condom and wham, I got pregnant. Sady I lost that one to miscarriage.

Don't give up, if you aren't pregnant now (which you don't know for sure) you will be soon.

You're 20, have only been trying for 4 months, and you're at the "I'll never get pregnant!" stage?

Honey--you haven't even seen a fertility specialist, nor have you been trying that long.

You need to see a DOCTOR, get a full checkup, and chart your ovulation.

If you haven't done those three things, and been trying a year---you really have nothing to worry about yet.

I am still of the belief, though, that you should get a job and get married to your boyfriend before TRYING to have a baby.
